The weather, currently.

When most of us decide what week to take for vacation it's got to be done quite a bit in advance. It's always a bit of a game of luck as to whether or not you get a good week in the summer. This year the weather's been very cooperative the result of the drought but certainly bringing amazing weather. After a gorgeous weekend, we'll see more sunshine on Monday with warmer temperatures into the 80s. Tuesday brings a little more humidity and the slight risk of an afternoon thunderstorm with otherwise mostly sunny skies. The rest of the week looks warm and dry. There will be slight variations in temperature but basically it's a full-on summer vacation week.
What you need to know, currently.
In the latest Currently Explainer, Currently’s managing editor, Zaria Howell, spoke with some of our meterologists regarding how to survive extreme heat and wildfires. As the summer stretches on, it’s important to be aware of the many ways you and your community can prepare for severe weather events.
First, it’s important to assess your home’s susceptibility to wildfires using the government’s Fire and Smoke Map. It also helps to have a plan in place. Check your home’s smoke detectors to ensure that they’re working properly and make sure that you know where all your home’s exits are. If you find yourself in a fire, stay low to the ground. And, in the aftermath of any fire or extreme heat, continue to seek out ways that you can increase your community’s resilience.
