The weather, currently.

After a cool end to the weekend temperatures will moderate for the start of the work week. Readings will be in the 60s during Monday afternoon along with a blend of clouds and sunshine and no chance of any precipitation. It remains seasonably chilly Monday night as readings fall back to the 40s before reaching near 60 again on Tuesday along with the chance for a couple of light showers in the afternoon. A slow moving jet stream will keep the weather unsettled for the middle and end of end of the week. It may turn particularly wet on Wednesday as a weather system stalls near New England. —Dave Epstein

In a personal essay, Currently’s managing editor Zaria Howell writes about how the Earth and our own healing are intrinsically connected. Zaria is an environmental journalist— but focused on wellness and mental health— she is also pursuing a Masters in Social Work at Columbia University.
In the summer of 2021 Zaria spent two months living and working on a farm, the experience changed how she views taking care of her own body and mind.
She writes, “And so, perhaps now more than ever, is time for us, as a collective, to decide what environmental consciousness means and looks like to us, for it’s clear we’ve become disconnected from the life force energy that binds us to our environment.”
