The weather, currently.

The destruction across Florida is definitely the big weather story but here in Southern New England beautiful September weather will close out the month. High pressure continues in control with a few clouds overnight as temperatures fall back down into the 40s to lower 50s. Looking ahead toward Thursday and Friday I'm expecting a good deal of sunshine both days with temperatures in the mid 60s rather seasonable for the time of year. The cloud shield from the remnants of hurricane will approach over the weekend and may limit the amount of sunshine. Temperatures will be cooler, with the wind coming in off the water staying in the lower 60s and even some upper 50s at the coastline. The best chance of rain would be Saturday night if it occurred at all and it does not look heavy.
What you need to know, currently.
Ian made landfall Wednesday as a horrifying Category 4 hurricane, with winds just shy of Category 5. Cuba began restoring power today, after the storm knocked out the country’s grid as it passed through.
The storm’s track shifted slightly to the east on Wednesday, bringing catastrophic flooding to much of the southeastern portion of the state.

Conditions are expected to worsen throughout the evening as the storm moves across the state. Although Ian will weaken as it moves inland, it’s still a massive storm carrying an enormous amount of rain. The latest storm surge update extends to North Carolina and estimates 4-6 feet of flooding along the entire Georgia coast.
